Chess Moore, Jr.

Chess Moore, Jr., 70, of Sevierville, TN passed away Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital- Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Community Baptist Church, Columbus, MS from 3 to 4 PM. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Community Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Damon Williams officiating, Bro. Wes Jones assisting. A private family graveside will be held at Moore Family Cemetery, Brooksville, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Moore was born May 27, 1941 in Noxubee County, MS to the late Chess F. Moore and Ora Faye Harrison Moore. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Moore retired in 1998 from Omnova as a supervisor after 30 years of service. He has lived in Sevierville, TN for the past 10 years and attended Richardson’s Cove Baptist Church, Sevierville, TN, where he was involved in the senior citizens group. Mr. Moore enjoyed playing golf, traveling, wood working, and was an overall handyman. He was also a devote Christian and a dedicated family man.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife Carol Smith Dallas Moore, Sevierville, TN, his daughter Vicki Richmond, Columbus, MS, his sons: David Wayne (Tonya) Moore, Columbus, MS, Clint (Becky) Moore, Columbus, MS, Chess (Carrie) Moore III, Vernon, AL, step-sons: David (Dorothy) Dallas, Jacksonville, FL, Jeff Dallas, Columbus, MS. He is also survived by his sisters: Thelma (Wesley) Abrams, West Point, MS, Nan (Guy) Hammack, Columbus, MS, brother David Owen (Patsy) Moore, Ocean Springs, MS. Mr. Moore is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
