Roy Philip Butler, 73 of Caledonia, MS passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at his residence.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 10:30 A.M. 12:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 P.M. in the Lowndes Funeral Home chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Bennie Robertson, Bro. Randy Holmes and Bro. Mike Dalton officiating. Interment will be in Butler, Cemetery, Noxubee County, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Butler was born October 12, 1940 to the late Thomas Eugene & Ola C. Reynolds Butler in Noxubee County, MS and moved to Caledonia nine years ago from the Butler Community. He was a member of Open Door Worship Center, Caledonia, MS; his greatest love was his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his family. Mr. Butler loved the outdoors hunting and fishing, he was a retired minister of the gospel, heavy equipment operator and store manager. In addition to his parents, Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his grandson Dustin White, brother Calvin Butler and sister Sherlene Boykin.

Mr. Butler is survived by his wife of 55 years Maxine Robertson Butler, Caledonia, MS, daughters Debbie (Wayne) White Caledonia, MS, Tammy (Warren) Conner, Caledonia, MS, Phyllis (Eric) Bounds, Steens, MS, sisters Abbie Grace Butler Hadaway, Macon, Linda Kay Butler, Louisville, grandchildren Tony White of Preston, Dale Conner of Starkville, Chase Conner of New Hope, Ethan Bounds of Steens and Isabella Bounds of Steens, great-grandchildren Kaileigh, Samantha, Bryar Grayson, Jordan White and Paisley Brook Conner, Malerie and Maleah Nickoles.

Pallbearers will be Tony White, Dale Conner, Chase Conner, Ethan Bounds, Scottie Johns, Phillip Eaves and Bro. Allen Eaves. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Michael Boland, Dr. Robert Howland, Dr. Barrie Bounds, Rev. Gerald Butler, Bobby White, Travis Robertson, Roland Robertson, Bobby Ray Hadaway and Elvis Vandevender.
