Obituary

Mr. Adrain O. Rogers, 85 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hopsital-GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Friday, June 7, 2013 from 5-8 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10 am at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating and Bro. Breck Ladd assisting. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Bro. Melvin Mordecai officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Rogers was born September 15, 1927 in Couch, MO to the late George Edward and Stella Mae Johnson Rogers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked for Tennessee Gas Company for over 35 years. Mr. Rogers was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for 53 years, where he was a member of the Choir, Sunday School Secretary and worked in the church library. He was a member of the Joseph Warren Masonic Lodge #71 F & AM, New Albany, MS, Grand York Rite Bodies of Mississippi and Shrine of Hamasa Temple, Meridian, MS. Mr. Rogers was a member of the Toastmasters, retired Men's Coffee Club (Hwy. 82 McDonald's), Columbus and New Hope YMCA and Caveman Breakfast Club. He was a Limo Driver for the GTR Airport, an avid woodworker, gardener, writer of short stories and amateur musician. Mr. Rogers also made walking canes, enjoyed fishing and was a friend to many people. Mr. Rogers is survived by his daughter- Jeanette (Clyde Edward) Lee, Columbus, MS; sister-Mary Francis (Leo) Hall, Thayer, Mo: grandson-Michael Dale (Jenny) Lee, Grenada, MS: great grandchildren- Elizabeth, Ian and Rebecca Lee: 9 cousins and 17 nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mark Vickers, Mike Reeves, Brooks Pope, Jimmy Parker, Bill Delk, Joe Atkins, Ken Aldridge and Lee Roy Lollar. Honorary pallbearers will be the Retired Men's Coffee Club, Former and Current Employees of Tennaco Gas and the Caveman Breakfast Club. Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church Music Ministry, Building Fund or Children's Ministry, 127 Airline Rd., Columbus, MS 39702, or Donor's Favorite Charity.
