Obituary

Agnes Mordecai, 86, of Caledonia, MS, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023, at her residence.

Visitation will be Friday, April,14,2023, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Service will be on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Smith officiating.  Interment will follow at New Liberty Cemetery in Bankston, Alabama.

Ms. Mordecai was born on November 30, 1936, in Fayette County, Alabama. She was a Nurse for many years in Healthcare. After her retirement, she took care of several elderly in the community.  She loved her patients and her patients loved her, Ms. Mordecai enjoyed gardening and spending time outside, and she was a member of Border Springs Baptist Church in Caledonia, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Flay R. Mordecai; father, Charlie Worthy; mother Francis Dickerson Richards; sisters- Cora Mae Smith, Clara Wright, Estella Fowler, Elaine Reeves, and Pauline Corkren; brothers- Clifton Worthy, Oliver Worthy, and Otis Worthy.

Ms. Mordecai is survived by her son, Gregory Mordecai; daughter, Rhonda Russell; brothers- Rayford Worthy and Douglas Worthy; sister, Melba June Lowery, and two grandchildren.

Memorials- Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America, P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
