IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alan
Simons
February 27, 1954 – January 29, 2022
If you asked a hundred people who Alan Simons was, they'd all give you a similar answer. A husband, a father, hard worker, someone with a big personality and an even
bigger sense of humor. Alan loved to make people laugh and he was always ready and willing to do anything he could to help anyone he could - no matter the circumstances. He loved people, and he loved big. Alan was every one of these things and more.
On any given day, when Alan wasn't hard at work at Columbus Brick Company, chasing down the Snap-On tool truck, or making his rounds to pick up parts, he could be found in his wood shop where he loved building beautiful things for the people he loved.
Alan passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 29, 2022, with his loving wife by his side. Alan was born on February 27, 1954, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Albert and Ida Simons. At the age of 14, he moved to Columbus, Mississippi where he spent the rest of his life. Alan married Mickie Ray Simons, the love of his life, in 1980 and together, they built a life and family that they loved.
In addition to his wife of 41 years, Alan is survived by his daughter, Jenifer Simons (Tyler Hunter, who he loved as his own):granddaughters, Mackenzie, Peyton and Sawyer; mother-in-law, Sue Ray; niece, Lindsey Petty (Daniel Livingston): great nephews Aden and Carson; and great niece, Savannah; and honorary family members, Dana, Jake and Luke Hudgens. He is
also survived by a host of brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home with the service immediately following. Internment will be at Memorial Gardens in Columbus, MS.
