Alene Asherbranner, 94, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev Mark McNair officiating and Rev. Prentiss "Bud" Gordon assisting in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 4:30 PM at Rescue United Methodist Church Cemetery, Union Grove, AL with Rev. Eldridge Criscoe officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mrs. Asherbranner was born January 15, 1922, to the late Horace and Kate Mitchell Slate in Morgan County, AL. She married Corman Asherbranner October 11, 1947. Mrs. Asherbranner attended Caledonia United Methodist Church, Caledonia, MS and Rescue United Methodist Church, Union Grove, AL. She was a loving mother who participated in anything her children were doing—everyone's Nana. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband-Corman Asherbranner; brothers-Wayne Slate and Mitchell Slate; and grandson-in-law-Reed Andrews.

Mrs. Asherbranner is survived by her daughter-Betty (Bill) Darnell, Caledonia, MS; Billye Asherbranner, Steens, MS; granddaughters-Dana (Scott) Fleming, Northport, AL and Kellie (Tony) Weaver, Greenwood Springs, MS; great-grandchildren-Brett Beatty, Carson Beatty, Jackson Fleming, Chase Weaver, Mollie Kate Andrews, and Will Andrews; stepdaughter-Lora Mae (Billy) Vinson; sister-in-law-Margaret Slate, Morgan City, AL; nephew-Mickey (Carol) Slate, Morgan City, AL and their families.

Pallbearers will be Brett Beatty, Matt Slate, Colby Slate, Tom Arnold, Derrick Black, James Dunn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. Burl Wood, Caledonia United Methodist Church Family, Rescue United Methodist Church Family, Windsor Place Employees and Residents, Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT 3rd Floor Staff.
