Allen Gene Landers, 85 of Kosciusko, MS passed away, Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Mississippi State veterans Home, Kosciusko, MS. A Graveside service with Military Honors will be Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Bro. Jim Landers officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Dr. Landers was born March 27, 1929 to the late Walter and Thelma Bishop Landers in Dexter, MO. He moved to Columbus, MS fifty years ago from Arkansas. Dr. Landers retired in 1973 as a Major from the United States Air Force after 16 years of service. He served as a chaplain during his career in the Air Force and was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Dr. Landers served as a guest speaker at numerous local Baptist churches in the area. He had been a resident of the Mississippi State Veterans Home since 2007. In addition to his parents, Dr. Landers was preceded in death by his son - David Landers; brothers - Wilburn Landers, John Landers, Claybourn Landers and James Landers; sisters - Shirley Thompson and Martha Landers. Dr. Landers is survived by his wife of 59 years - Doris Ray Rector Landers, Kosciusko, MS; brother - Tony Landers, Independence, MO; grandchildren - Valerie Baldwin, Austin Landers, Leslie Landers; great-grandchildren - Madison Landers and Parker Landers.
