Alvin Alexandar Sartain, 86 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, August 07, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be Friday, August 9, 2013 at 10 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Avery officiating and Bro. P. J. Mortenson assisting. Interment will be at Ebenezer Cemetery, Vina, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Sartain was born January 1, 1927 in Vina, AL to the late William Lee and Ollie Clannon Sartain. He was a self-employed truck driver for over 20 years. Mr. Sartain was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, Columbus, MS where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and woodworking. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife-Gertha Imre Sartain and a son-David Sartain. Mr. Sartain is survived by children- Jean (Russell) Flood and Ann (Joe) Barnes both of Columbus, MS; grandchild-Stephen (Jennifer) Flood. Pallbearers will be family members. Honorary pallbearers will be The Canaan Men's Sunday School Class, Deacons of Canaan Baptist Church and Danny Humphries.
