Andy Perkins

Andrew” Andy” Collins Perkins, 68 of Columbus, MS passed away March 14, 2026, at his residence.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS, with Bro. Walter Butler and Bro. Troy Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery in Fernbank, Alabama. Lowndes Funeral Home will be directing.

Mr. Perkins was born on October 31, 1957, in Columbus, MS, to the late J.W. Perkins and Lovie Smith Perkins. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Columbus, MS. Mr. Perkins loved being outside, enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and cooking. Everyone asked him for many of his recipes, but he kept the family recipes secret. He was a Firefighter for the City of Columbus from 1986 to his retirement in 2015 as a Captain. Mr. Perkins worked with the District 2 Volunteer Fire Department from 1990 to 2014, where he served as the Chief for many years.

Mr. Perkins is survived by his wife, Teresa Redwine Perkins; daughters- Heather (William) Riley, Amy (Caleb) Vaden; son- Matthew (Jessica) Perkins; daughter- Allison Perkins; grandchildren- Jack and Lexie Riley, Elijah (Jaeden) Vaden, Noah, Christian, and Isaiah Vaden, and Andrew and Ella Perkins; and brother, Pat Perkins.

Pallbearers will be -Jamie Perkins, Caleb Vaden, Steve Redwine, Paul Redwine, William Riley, and Stephen Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be- Kelly Williams, Andy Grant, and all the firemen he served with.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Lowndes County District 2 Volunteer Fire Department at Suite 128, Jess Lyons Road, Columbus, MS 39705.
