Annie S. "Mommie Ann" Overton went to be with her Lord and and Savior on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Grayson Place.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1, 2018, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow on Sunday, July 1, 2018, at 1:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Annie was born January 28, 1920 in Carroll County, Mississippi the daughter of William and Mattie Jane (Mullins) Slaton.  She married the love of her life Jack Overton in 1957 in Regina, Canada.

Annie Overton was a very strong willed woman her whole life and she was the matriarch of a loving family. She was witty, crafty, artsy and even made wine at her very own vineyard in Columbus, MS. Annie lived a long and fulfilling life with no regrets. After living in Mississippi for the majority of her life she moved to Texas to be closer to her only daughter and the rest of her family. She was loved very much by her family and was even lucky enough in her life to meet her 7 great-great-grandchildren. Annie made lots of lovely memories with her friends and family in her long life and she will forever be missed and in our hearts. She lived out the last of her days at Grayson Place, in Denison, TX. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Plus, Home Instead, and Grayson Place for the wonderful care they provided for her. A special thanks to Barbara Childs and Eva White, Annie's caregivers, for being there for anything Annie needed.

Mrs. Overton is survived by her loving family, daughter, Margaret Ann Stephens and husband James of Denison; grandchildren, Billy Whitebread, Don Kilgore, Pam Roberts, Robin Roberts; brother, Marvin Slaton, eight great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Christine Williams, Mertice Ugilini, Josephine Evans, Betty Slaton and brother, Paul Slaton.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hale, Nathan Roberts, Vincent Kilgore, and Jonathan Hale. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Smith and Bobby Ward.
