Obituary

Annie Ruth Smith (Shaw), 77, of Steens, MS passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 at her residence. Visitation will be Monday, April 20, 2015 from 1:00-2:00PM at Lowndes Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Al Hamm officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Smith was born October 1, 1937 in Lamar County, AL to the late Kelsey and Ellen Brown Trimm. She attended and was a charter member of Victory Freewill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Mrs. Smith has lived in this area her whole life. She retired in 2000 from United Technologies after 47 years of employment. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband - Jerry J. Smith, husband - Thurman A. Shaw, sisters - Wilkie Summerville and Elsie Fesmire, and brothers - James Trimm and Kennith Trimm. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband - Earl F. Smith, Steens, MS; sons - Michael Ray Smith, Steens, MS, David Alan (Cheryl) Smith, Starkville, MS, and Mark Smith, Steens, MS; daughter - Brenda Kay Prescott, Columbus, MS; sisters - Edna Ussery, Traskwood, AR, Rosie Heveran, Benton, AR and Kelly Trimm, Columbus, MS; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be the men of Victory Freewill Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Victory Christian Academy, 374 Mill Road, Columbus, MS 39702.
