April Cherie Shows McRaney April Cherie McRaney, 43, of Columbus, MS lost her battle with cancer on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Community Hospice, Verona, MS. Visitation for Mrs. McRaney was Friday, April 20, 2012 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Service was Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Tye Reed officiating. Interment was in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. McRaney was born July 24, 1968 to Nelson & Glenda Pierpoint Shows in Hattiesburg, Forrest County, Mississippi. She graduated with her Masters degree in Education and Architectural Engineering from The University of Southern Mississippi. She moved to Columbus in 2005 from McComb, MS after marrying David "Marty" McRaney on November 19, 2005. Mrs. McRaney was a Math teacher at schools in Louisiana and Parklane Academy in McComb, MS, most recently she taught AP Math at Columbus High School, Columbus, MS. She was a soccer and softball coach. She loved teaching, sudoku, cooking, her family and her students. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Columbus, MS. Mrs. McRaney is survived by her husband – David "Marty" McRaney, Columbus, MS, daughter – Katie McRaney, Columbus, MS, father – Nelson Shows, Purvis, MS, step-mother - Sissy Shows, Purvis, MS, sisters – Alicia Shows, McComb, MS and Michelle (Almondo) Anderson, Champaign, IL, maternal grandmother – Lessie Pierpoint, nieces – Kim Stephenson and Jessica Stephenson, aunt – Gail and in-laws, Johnny, Edna and Brianna. Pallbearers where Max Weathers, Brad Weathers, Ben Weathers, Cleo Turner, Dalton Pool, Ricky Balckledge and Almondo Anderson. Honorary pallbearers where Jim Carrier, Charlie Coggins, Michael McRaney, Joseph Johnson, Lewis Burris and Johnny McRaney.
