Beatrice Pennington

Janie Beatrice Pennington, 98 of Caledonia, MS passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at Windsor Place, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A funeral service will follow in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM with Bro. Jimmy Ray officiating.  Interment will be in Rowan Cemetery, Steens, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Pennington was born February 20, 1918 in Vernon, AL to the late Marion C and Sibby Jane Taylor Perkins.  She was employed as a supervisor with Glen's Garment Plant, Caledonia, MS and many other garment factories over the years.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She enjoyed quilting and especially loved gardening.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pennington was preceded in death by her husband – Earl Grady Pennington, Grandchild – Chris Elliott, 1 sister and 4 brothers.

Mrs. Pennington is survived by her daughter – Sandra (David) Elliott, Knoxville, TN; son – Everett (Sherri) Pennington, Caledonia, MS; grandchildren – Marty (Angie) Pennington, Columbus, MS, Diane (Marty) Holtman, Caledonia, MS,  Lauren (Brian) Kelly, Knoxville, TN and Scott (Pam) Nipper; great-grandchildren – Brooke Pennington, Macey Pennington, Emily (Nathan) Sprouse, Jacob Holtman, Lila Belle Kelly, Mary Kelly, John Taylor David Kelly, Christopher Adam Elliott, Landon Nipper, Logan Nipper, Austin Lee Talley and Austin Nipper; sister – Eulene Taylor, caregivers – Frances Bush, Shirley Prestridge and Liz Dixon.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Sprouse, Jacob Holtman, Marty Holtman, Ronnie Oaks, Marty Pennington and Brian Kelly.
