Betty Sykes Basinger Blackstock, 92, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021, at her residence.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 11, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tommy Gillon officiating and Bro. Roy Hawkins assisting. Interment will be in Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mrs. Blackstock was born September 2, 1928, in Greenville, NC to the late John Oliver Sykes and Blanche Catherine Summer Sykes. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church for many years and currently a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mrs. Blackstock was an Office Manager for J.C. Penney and retired after working for over 25 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband- Elmer Van Basinger; brother- Edwin Sykes; sister- Grace Becton; grandson- Gabe Basinger and step-granddaughter- Kelly Blackstock.

Mrs. Blackstock is survived by her husband- Ralph Blackstock of Columbus, MS; son- Van (Deborah) Basinger of Muscle Shoals, AL; daughter- Lynn (Ronald) Whitlaw of Columbus, MS; stepchildren- Ken (Terri) Blackstock, Jane (Vern) Boothe; grandchildren- Kathey Dodson, Ann (Bud) Browning, Andrew (Shannon) Basinger; step-grandchildren- Lindsey (Anna) Blackstock, Brett (Stacie) Boothe, Clay (Christine) Boothe, Spencer (Casey) Boothe; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be William O. Smith, Jr., Tyler Nash, Bud Browning, Brett Blackstock, Clay Blackstock, Lindsey Blackstock. Honorary Pallbearers will be Allen McCrary, Roy King, Dr. Lebraun, Dr. King. Annette Bradley, Janette Williams, Shelia Henley, Arlene Weatherby, Lisa Pounds, Fidelis Sunday School Class at Fairview Baptist Church, Staff of Baptist Hospice.
