Betty Jean Hartline Blanton, 84, of Columbus, MS passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 26, 2016, from 1 PM to 3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 3 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Luke Lawson officiating and Rev. Jearl Hunley assisting. Interment will be in Louisville Memorial Gardens, Louisville, KY at a later date.

Mrs. Blanton was born June 24, 1931, to the late Clara Sue Cissna and Clyde Hartline in Bloomington, IN. She has lived in this area for the past 11 years having moved from South Venice, FL. Mrs. Blanton attended First Cumberland Presbyterian Church Columbus, MS and was a member of the Peniel Sunday School Class. She was previously employed with South Central Bell as a Telephone operator. Mrs. Blanton married Milburn James Blanton, Sr. on March 10, 1948, in Louisville, KY. In addition, to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband- Milburn James Blanton, Sr. and son- Philip A. Blanton.

Mrs. Blanton is survived by her daughter- Debra "Debbie" Clevenger, Columbus, MS; son- Milburn James Blanton, Jr., Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren- Nathan ( Stephanie) Clevenger, Birmingham, AL, Timothy Clevenger, Columbus, MS, Joseph (Betsy) Clevenger, Spokane, WA, Jeremy Blanton, Jacksonville, FL, Emily Blanton; great-grandchildren- Sophie Clevenger, James Clevenger, Amelia Clevenger, Wyatt Clevenger, Anna Clevenger; brothers- John Hartline and Harry Hartline both of Louisville, KY and sister-in-law- Evelyn Hartline, Louisville, KY.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Clevenger, Jeremy Blanton, Milburn James Blanton, Jr. and Nathan Clevenger. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Clevenger and the Elders of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
