Betty Jean Coleman, 75 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Aurora Australis Lodge, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5-8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 11 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. AL Hamm officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Coleman was born July 4, 1938 in Mathiston, MS to the late Oscar Frank and Myra Harpole Hanson. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Church and was a florist for 28 years. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister-Dorothy Fowler and brothers-Jimmy, James and William Earl Hanson. Mrs. Coleman is survived by her husband of 56 years- Albert Coleman, Columbus, MS; sons-Andrew Coleman, Flowood, MS, Doug (Becky) Coleman, Columbus, MS and Larry Coleman, Brooksville, MS; brothers-Milton Hanson, Carl (Wilda) Hanson and Billy (Ginger) Hanson; grandchildren-Madalyn Coleman, Ryan Kyle Coleman and Cody Coleman; sister in laws-Kathy Hanson, Elizabeth Spencer and Barbara Coleman; brother in law-Carl (Tina) Coleman; nieces- Pat Harris, Diane Moore, Melissa Howard, Jill Wigfield, Hollie Hanson, Karla Harwood, Leslie Hanson, Pat McCluney and Brenda Irvin. Pallbearers will be nephews: Clint Hanson, Joey Hanson, Jason Hanson, Stanley Hanson, Terry Spencer, Michael Coleman, Jim Coleman and Donald Coleman. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald and Martha Ward, Dwayne and Marsha Burns, Mrs. Jean Duckett, Gordy and Wynell Koenigsberger, Mike and Martha Ellis, John and Jeanie Buckley, Dr. Matthew Wade, Staff of Aurora Australis Lodge, Fidelis Ruth Sunday School Class and Bertha Smith WMU.
