Betty Britt Barksdale Vail, 75 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at her residence.
A funeral service will be Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 1:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny Gardner officiating. Interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Ethelsville, AL.
Mrs. Vail was born on October 22, 1944, to the late Harvey Samuel and Linnie Mae Bush Britt in Pickens County, AL. She worked as a bus driver with the Columbus Municipal Schools. Mrs. Vail was a member of Living Faith Tabernacle, Columbus, MS. She enjoyed doing yard work especially working with her flowers. Mrs. Vail liked cooking, and canning and loved her dog, Abby. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vail was preceded in death by her daughter – Chrisie Lynn Barksdale, Kenna Nicole McGrew, and Brenda Lynn Bryant; grandson – James Samuel Barksdale, Jr., sisters – Ruby Britt Carlisle, brother – Harvey Samuel Britt, Jr., and step-mom- Vera Mae Britt.
Mrs. Vail is survived by her husband – Timmie Vail, Columbus, MS; children – Sammy (Dorothy) Barksdale, Columbus, MS, Charles Barksdale, Columbus, MS, Richard (Trena) Barksdale, Columbus, MS, Paul (Lena) Barksdale, Kevin Vail, Ethelsville, AL and Chad (Beth) Vail, Ethelsville, AL, Vera (Michele Duncan) Taylor, Columbus, MS and Barbara Sanders, Columbus, MS. 13 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren and special friend – Juanita Wilkins.
Pallbearers will be Britt Varner, Michael Varner, Aaron Teague, Devin Vail, Bobby Barksdale, and Daryl Wiltshire. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Biller, Wade Hampton, Glenn Baldwin, Timmie Barksdale, Junior Barksdale, Allen Kibe, and Richard Milton.
