Billie Mae Ray Taylor, 90 of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Trinity Healthcare, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2016, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A memorial service will be Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Taylor officiating and Bro. Sammy Crawford and Bro. Breck Ladd assisting and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Taylor was born December 5, 1925, to the late William Otis and Lucindia Otho Horton Thompson Ray in Fayette, AL.  She moved to Columbus, MS 62 years ago and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.  Mrs. Taylor was very involved with the church especially the children and youth, chaperoning many trips and camps.  She was a member of Joy Sunday School Class and supported missionaries.  Mrs. Taylor made several trips to the Holy Land.  She was a retired bookkeeper from Wood Products Co. where she served for 30+ years.  Mrs. Taylor loved gardening, flowers, cooking, sewing, quilting and reading.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband – Woodrow Francis Taylor and numerous brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her sons – William Ray (Elaine) Taylor, Columbus, MS, John Francis (Cathy) Taylor, Jackson, MS, Thomas E. (Rhonda) Taylor, Columbus, MS and Henry Black, Millport, AL; grandchildren – Stefanie (Nick) Christy, Jay (Melissa) Taylor, Staci (Thomas) Franklin, Carley Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Tiffany (Thomas) Bowman, Benjamin Taylor and Woodrow Preston Taylor; 4 great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joy Sunday School Class, Chris Crawley, Andrew Bryant, Joe Gillis, Dr. Rusty Linton, Darrell Pulliam, George Cargile and her grandsons.
