Billy Joe Nolen, 81, of Caledonia, MS passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be from 1:00pm-2:00pm Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Both officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Nolen was born July 15, 1933 to Ira and Margaret Pierce Nolen in Lamar County, AL. He has lived in the area all of his life and attended Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Caledonia, MS. Mr. Nolen retired from the Columbus Police Department as sergeant after 23 years of service. He then served 11 years as a Lowndes County Sheriff's Deputy. Mr. Nolen was a member of the American Legion Post 69 and the Columbus Police Club. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his great grandson Ethan Tucker. Mr. Nolen is survived by his wife-Shelia Nolen, Caledonia, MS; daughters-Donna Jo Smith, Sulligent, AL and Diane (Chris) Autry, Columbus, MS; sisters-Peggy Tafoya, South Carolina, Dot Nolen, Columbus, MS, and Phyllis (Kenneth) McDaniel, Caledonia, MS; grandchildren-Shannon (Brennan) Tucker, Jeffery (Megan) Smith, Heather (Bryan) Bailey, and Holley Autry; and great-grandchild-Harley Tucker. Pallbearers will be Ross Richardson, Gary Moore, Carl Kemp, Dwight Colson, Glenn Culpepper, and Billy Pickens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ed Prescott, Kenny McDaniel, Bobby Gale, Thomas Williams, Dr. Matt Williams and Staff, Past and Present Members of the Columbus Police Department and the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department, and Members of Mt.
