Bobby Gene Oakes Bobby Gene Oakes, 59 of Caledonia, MS passed away Monday, January 17, 2011 at his residence. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 6 – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 2PM at the Living Faith Tabernacle Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. James Gardner officiating and Bro. Grant Mitchell assisting. Interment will be in Living Faith Tabernacle Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Oakes was born April 8, 1951 in Columbus, MS to the late Vandiver and Dossie Goss Oakes and was a resident of Caledonia, MS for the past 8 years having moved from Ethelsville, AL. He was employed with East Lowndes Water Department as a maintenance technician with 16 years of service. Mr. Oakes loved fishing, hunting, gardening and Mississippi State football. He was a member of Living Faith Tabernacle Church, Columbus, MS. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Johnny Oakes and James Oakes. Mr. Oakes is survived by his wife Becky Oakes, Caledonia, MS; daughters, Rachel Kinard, Caledonia, MS; Shannon (Jeff) Elliott, Bradley, AL; son, Daniel (Sunni) Beam, Honolulu, HI; sisters, Shirley Habbock, TN and Debbie Rhodes, Gulfport, MS; special friends, Dennis, Mary and Justin Hall and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ricks. Pallbearers will be Todd Mordecai, Raymond Sledge, Lance Moore, Carey Upton, Brad Bradock and Anthony Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Ricks and Curtis Pate.
