Bonnie Gearlene Thompson, 77 of Columbus, MS passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Aurora Health and Rehab, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 12:00 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Sammy Crawford officiating and Bro. Tommy Gillon assisting. Mrs. Thompson was born February 22, 1936 in French Camp, MS to the late John Almer and Pervil Olene Sheedy Campbell. She was a member of both Fairview Baptist Church and WMU. Mrs. Thompson worked at Fairview Baptist Church for 5 years. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband John Thompson and a sister Jean Bowie. Mrs. Thompson is survived by a son-John (Janice) Thompson, Columbus, MS; sister-Gaitha (Terry) Parkinson, French Camp, MS and a granddaughter-Laura Whitney Thompson, Columbus, MS. Pallbearers will be Terry Parkinson, David McGee, Robert Lattrell, Charles Thompson, Randell Whitmire and James Oliver. Honorary pallbearers will be Roland Hill, Brandon Parkinson, Dr. Gerald Turner, Wade McCrary, Bob Grigler and John R. McGee.
