Brannon Lee Prater Brannon Lee Prater, 61, of Columbus, MS passed away, Saturday, April 30, 2011 at his residence. Visitation for Mr. Prater will be Monday, May 2, 2011 from 5:30 – 8:30 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Steens Church of Christ, Steens, MS with Mr. Larry Montgomery officiating and Mr. Pete Bowen Assisting. Interment will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Lamar County, AL. Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Prater was born August 9, 1949 to the late Gilbert Neil & Lena Sue Vaughan Prater in Columbus, MS. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1971 and served in the United States Air Force where he received the honor of Sergeant of the Year in 1975 – 1976. He retired in 2010 as manager of Zales Jewelry Store after 25 years of service. He was a member of Steens Church of Christ, a member of the NRA, loved collecting guns and enjoyed history. Mr. Prater is survived by his brother – Gilbert Neil (June) Prater, Jr, Oxford, MS, Sisters – Brenda (Jim) Crownover, Columbus, MS, Sandra (Greg) Waites, Ovett, MS and Gail (Warren) Henderson, Bella Vista, AR. 4 Nephews, 7 Nieces and a host of Great-Nieces & Great Nephews. Pallbearers for Mr. Prater will be his cousins and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Steens Church of Christ.
