Carl Porter, 85, of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his residence. Visitation will be held Monday, March 9 2015 from 10AM-12PM at Lowndes Funeral Home. A private graveside will follow at Meadow Branch Cemetery, Kennedy, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Porter was born August 29, 1929 in Columbus, MS to the late Ethan Landon and Ida Eloise Belk Porter. He loved watching John Wayne Western movies and The Andy Griffith Show. Mr. Porter loved his dog, Coco, and was always helping people and in the community. In addition to his parents, Mr. Porter is preceded in death by his sister - Louis Evelyn Porter and brothers - Harry Porter and Robert Porter. Mr. Porter is survived by his son - Shane Porter, Fort Wayne, IN; daughter - Carla Schaefer, Fort Wayne, IN; brother - Jess W. Porter; 2 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
