Carolyn Newell Johnson, 84, of Columbus, MS, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at Trinity Health Care in Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Service will be Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS, with Rev. Sarah Windham officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Forest Cemetery in Pontotoc, Mississippi.

Mrs. Johnson was born October 17, 1940, in Randolph, Mississippi, to the late Carnis Newell and Lottie Patterson Newell. She was a longtime resident of Columbus, MS, where she was a member of Wesley Methodist Church. She had a huge heart for people who loved everyone and was a very accepting and non-judgemental. Mrs. Johnson really enjoyed her work as a counselor with Contact. She enjoyed playing cards, dominos, Bunco, and fishing. Mrs. Johnson loved to travel and attend the Navy ship reunions with her late husband. She loved watching MSU Women's basketball. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her husband- Charles "Chuck" Johnson, son- Greg Johnson, and daughter- Chanda Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sons- Darrell (Mona) Johnson, and Ron (Dee) Johnson; daughter- Marrika (David) Ellison; grandchildren- Jake Johnson, Chloe Malley, Charlie Malley, Sarah Carolyn Crown, Sara (Nathan Matthews) Johnson, Ron (Madison) Johnson, Jr., Rachel (Jamie Hill) Johnson, Jill (Matt) Martin, and Nicholas (Jessica) Johnson; and 4 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be – Jeff Holloway, Rodney Newell, Shannon Newell, Eli Holloway, Rylen Mounce, Kasen Winfield, James "Frito" Leatherwood, Brailon Walls. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Newell, Anthony Holloway, and Cris Newell.
