Carolyn Agnes Johnson, 78 of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A funeral service will be Friday, August 26, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Dr. Shawn Parker officiating.  Interment will be at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Johnson was born November 11, 1937 to the late John and Lula Plunkett Rutledge in Cordova, AL.  Over her lifetime, she worked for a Harcourt, Brace and Jovanovich Book Publishing company as a bookkeeper in Chicago, IL, for Liberty National Insurance and United Chair, Leeds, AL.  She was a member of East Columbus Church of Christ, Columbus, MS.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband – William Ray Johnson; sister – Louise Reid; brothers – John Rutledge and Isaac Rutledge.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her sons – Daniel Johnson and Gary Johnson; sisters – Marie Key and Betty Gladden; brothers – Charles and Robert Rutledge.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Johnson, Tracy Pack, Dr. Tony Rutledge, David Rutledge, Randy Scott and other family and friends.
