Catherine Pounders, 76 of Caledonia, MS passed away Saturday, March 31, 2018, at her residence.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Church of God of Prophecy, Hamilton, MS.  A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Bro. Byron Harris officiating and Bro. Joel Brooks assisting.  Interment will be in McDuffie Cemetery, Hamilton, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Pounders was born September 28, 1941, in Reeves, TN to the late Leo and Tishie Busbee Clarke and moved to Caledonia, MS 30 years ago from Union City, TN.  She was a member of Zion Assembly Church of God, Caledonia, MS.  Mrs. Pounders was self-employed and cleaned houses for 40 years.  She married Bobby Pounders on March 10, 1962, in Chicago, ILL and together they had 1 daughter and 5 sons.  Mrs. Pounders enjoyed attending church, gardening, cooking and doing crafts and handiwork.

Mrs. Pounders is survived by her husband of 56 years – Bobby Pounders, Caledonia, MS; daughter – Lori Winters, Caledonia, MS; sons – Ricky Pounders, Collinsville, MS, Billy (Julie) Pounders, Caledonia, MS, Timmy Pounders, Corpus Christi, TX, David (Diane) Pounders,  Gordo, AL and Phillip (Amy) Pounders, Lake Wylie, SC; sisters – Clara Smith, Tuscaloosa, AL and Shirley Cottongin, Kentucky; brother – J.L. Clare, Arlington, TX; 14 grandchildren – Dustin, Brittany, Asalyn, Derek, Tyler, Allie, Katlyn, Dottie, Dylan, Bailey, Nicholas, Karson, Malorie and Moriah; 5 great-grandchildren – Hadleigh, Bentley, Sawyer, John Patrick and William.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Pounders, Derek Pounders, Tyler Pounders, Nicholas Pounders, Dylan Pounders, Karlson Pounders and Parker Harris.  Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews.
