James "Chad" Wells, 77, of Steens, MS, passed away Monday, June 23, 2025, at Northwest Regional Health.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Service will be Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS with Bro. Brad Wright officiating.

Mr. Wells was born June 19, 1948, in Oxford, MS, to the late James Hoyt Wells and Edith Scott Wells.  He was married to his late wife, Sherry Wells, for 50 years. Mr. Wells served in the US Army during Vietnam and was awarded the expert badge for the M-16 Rifle, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device. He loved traveling to the Smokey Mountains. Mr.Wells was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 69 and the VFW. He was also a member of the VVA. Mr. Wells was an avid collector of many things. He was a supporter of the NRA. Mr. Wells worked as a security guard for Kerr McGee for many years. He enjoyed leatherworking, loved spending time with his grandchildren, and playing games on the computer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wells is preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Wells, and son, Joe Casmus.

Mr. Wells is survived by his daughter- Jennifer Wells of Caledonia; son- Jamie (Amanda) Wells; 5  grandchildren- Nicholas Wells, Meghan Wells, Britney (Bryan) Vogel, Breanna (Benson) Smith, and Brandon Casmus;  3 great grandchildren- Aspyn, Brielle, and  Justin; daughter-in-law- Marichu Casmus; brother- Neal (Nancy) Wells; sister-in-law- Mary Miller and Judy Wright; brother-in-law- Billy Wright and Neil Wright and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a Special thank you to his caregiver, Karen Jones, for all the care she gave to him.
