Charles Dewitt Clay Charles Dewitt Clay, 71 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, July 05, 2011 at his residence. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 6 – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Graveside services with military honors will be held Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 9 AM at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Bro. Grant Mitchell officiating; Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Clay was born April 28, 1940 in Meridian, MS to the late Dewitt and Alma Swayne Clay. He was a resident of Columbus, MS for the past 45 years having moved from Meridian, MS. Mr. Clay retired in 2000 as a customer engineer with IBM having 45 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Mr. Clay was a loving father of three children, loved fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He attended Caledonia United Pentecostal Church, Caledonia, MS. Mr. Clay is survived by his wife, Peggy Clay, Columbus, MS; daughter, Cynthia Selena (Diego J. Velasco) Clay, Columbus, MS; sons, Charles Richard (Rhonda) Clay, Hamilton, MS; Michael Allen (Stephanie) Clay, Columbus, MS; brother, Bobbie Clay, two grandchildren, Robyn Clay and Richard Clay. Pallbearers will be Charlie Hutchison, George Burchfield, Diego Velasco, Mike Dragla and Richard Clay. Honorary pallbearers will be W, C.
