Charles Quay Dickey Charles Quay Dickey, 76, of Columbus, MS passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at University Medical Center, Jackson, MS. Visitation for Mr. Dickey will be Tuesday, May 31, 2011 from 1:00 – 2:30 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Memorial Services will be Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 2:30 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS. Interment will be in Quitman City Cemetery, Quitman, GA. Mr. Dickey was born November 22, 1934 to the late Doy Quay & Edith Lucille Williams Dickey in Water Valley, MS. He served in the United States Air Force in Korea and Vietnam. While he was in the Air Force he was entrusted with driving many distinguished Americans including President Dwight D. Eisenhower to Thomasville, GA to go bird hunting. He also assisted the secret service in guarding President Lyndon B. Johnson to a meeting with Harry S. Truman in Independence, MO. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, American Legion, Air Force Sergeants' Association, AARP, the Auxiliary of Columbus Police and Lowndes County Sheriff's Departments in the 1970's. He was a member of the Seventh St. Church of Christ, Columbus, MS where he worked with the Nursing Home ministry. He loved working in the yard, gardening, war and western movies, country music, gun collecting and coin collecting. He retired from C.F.C. Transportation as a truck driver. Mr. Dickey is survived by his wife, Barbara Dickey, Columbus, MS, children – Sharon Dickey, Ridgeland, MS, Shawn Dickey, Columbus, MS & Shannon Dickey, Gulf Coast, MS, Sisters – Dorothy Spencer, Huntsville, AL, Jackie Ward, Louisiana and Ruth Kisendahl, Dallas, TX and 4 Grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Johnson, Ricky Bishop, Wade Ward, Jesse Betterton, Roy King, Billy Smith, Men of Seventh St. Church of Christ, Chris Morrow, David Morrow, & Montel Lowery Memorials may be made to Seventh St. Church of Christ Mission Fund, 2401 7th St. N., Columbus, MS 39705, Healing Hands International 455 McNally Drive, Nashville, TN 37211, American Heart Association P.O.
