Charlie Hefner Charles "Charlie" Hefner, 62, of Caledonia, MS passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at his residence. Visitation will be Sunday, March 23, 2014 from 2-3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus MS and Funeral Services will follow at 3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny Gardner officiating. Lowndes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Charlie was born June 24, 1951 to the late Charles Julian and Shirley Jean Matthews Hefner, Sr. in Florida. Charlie joined the Coast Guard in 1970 and served until 1998. He enjoyed a very rewarding and extraordinary career, which continued all through his life. Charlie was a very loving person, willing to help anyone and always willing to forgive. Charlie was very highly regarded by everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family at Nacco and all who know and loved him. Charlie was survived by his wife Martha Hefner; 4 daughters - Marlys Richardson, Eve Whitinock, Kelly Gerben and Emily Hefner; 9 grandchildren, 2 step-daughters - Michelle Cass and Jennifer Cass, 1 brother - Irving Hefner and 1 sister - Jan Dodson.
