Charles "Chuck" Edward Johnson, 84, of Columbus, MS passed away September 27, 2015 at Tri Star Skyline Medical Center, Nashville, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 30, 2015 from 5:30PM-8:30PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 10:00AM at the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Rev. Diane Lemmon officiating and Rev. Aubrey Mitchell assisting. Interment will be in Oak Forest Cemetery, Randolph, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Johnson was born August 28, 1931 in Sawyerville, AL to the late Walter and Ethel Burford Johnson. He was a Mason at the West Point Lodge. Mr. Johnson was a member of Gherardi Association and a member of the Supper Club Group at Wesley United Methodist Church. He loved college football, especially the University of Alabama football. Mr. Johnson enjoyed playing cards and dominoes, he loved traveling and keeping in touch with family via the telephone. He was employed by the Civil Service as a base supplier and previously served in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his infant son - Greg; infant daughter - Chanda; and brothers - Willie Johnson and James Johnson Mr. Johnson is survived by wife - Carolyn Fay Newell Johnson, Columbus, MS; sons - Darrell (Mona) Johnson, Indianapolis, IN and Ronald (Dee) Johnson, New York, NY; daughter - Marrika (Paul) Crown, Georgetown, TX; grandchildren - Jake Johnson (Bonnie Williams), Chloe Malley, Charlie Malley, Sarah Carolyn Crown, Sara Johnson, Ron Johnson, Jr., Rachel Johnson, Jill (Matt) Martin, and Nicholas Johnson; great grandddaughter - Ainsley Martin; sisters - Mamie Pritchett, Montgomery, AL and Clara Mae Boozer, Tuscaloosa, AL; and brother - Oren Johnson. Pallbearers will be Jake Johnson, Ron Johnson, Jr., Nicholas Johnson, Charlie Malley, Rodney Newell, Shannon Newell, and Jeff Holloway. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Holloway, James Leatherwood, Chris Newell, Randy Newell, Duayne Holloway, Frank Odom, A.B. Sanders, Wesley United Methodist Church Supper Club, Russell Street and Columbus Nissan Employees, and Shipmates of U.S.S. Gherardi Association.
