Charles Clifton Jones, 86, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 23, 2017, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will follow Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Breck Ladd officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Jones was born April 7, 1931, in Carrollton, AL to the late Richard Lester Jones and Eula Mae Carson Jones. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Jones worked at Maxxium Medical as a purchaser for 24 years. He was also a member of the United States Air Force from 1951 – 1954. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife- Peggy Booker Jones; and brother- Richard L. Jones and Phillip (Earline) Jones.

Mr. Jones is survived by his daughter- Sheila Jones of Columbus, MS; son- Mike (Karen) Jones of Gilbert, SC; sisters- Helen (Oliver) Phillips of Columbus, MS, Clemmie (T.L.) Harris of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Lily (Hank) Zaiontz of Tuscaloosa, AL; sister-in-law- Jean Jones; grandchildren- Chris Jones and Andrew Jones; and one great-grandchild- Charlotte.

Pallbearers will be Bubba Zaiontz, Chuck Goodman, Ken Phillips, Steve Miles, and John Wierengo. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Kinsey, Ray Crosby, Dick Perry, Larry Glover, and John Wierengo's Sunday School Class.
