Charles "Chuck" H. Rackard, 77, of Columbus , Mississippi passed away Wednesday, May 28 after a brief illness. He was born to C.B. Rackard and Marie Philyaw Rackard on April 27, 1948, in Flomaton, Alabama.
Chuck served in the Army Special Forces and was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He retired after 35 years of employment as a maintenance technician with Weyerhaeuser Pulp and Paper Company in Columbus, Mississippi.
He is preceded in death by his parents Marie and Mathew Colvin, elder brother Curtis Rackard, brother Billy Colvin, and son John Chism.
He will be remembered for his warm smile, appreciation of the joy of life, and strength of character. Chuck relished every moment and was a fierce and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife Deborah, daughters Alayna and Melody, grandchildren Jackson and Aubrey, siblings Doris Watson (Robert), Willie Colvin (Charlotte) and Johnny Colvin (Veronica), and many friends throughout the southeast.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, June 7 in Carrier Chapel, on the campus of the University of Mississippi for Women. 1200 3rd Avenue, South - Columbus. Mississippi 39701.
