Charles Wesley Reed Jr., 82 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at his residence. Visitation will be Saturday, August 2, 2014 from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Tabernacle Methodist Church Cemetery, Pickens County, AL with Bro. Clark Richardson officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Reed was born January 1, 1932 in Laurel, MS to the late Charles W. Reed, Sr. and Mildred E. Toler Reed. In 1950 he married Lou Ella (Lella) Winslett in Laurel, MS and moved to the Columbus area in 1956. Mr. Reed worked for Bell South Communications as an Engineer Assistant for twenty-five years. He was a charter member of Fairview Baptist Church, member of Columbus Lodge #5 F. & A.M., Grand York Rite Bodies of Mississippi and Hairston Bend Hunting Club. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reed is preceded in death by his grandson: Robert Christopher, brother-William Walter Reed and sister-Elizabeth Reed Hill. Mr. Reed is survived by his wife-Lella W. Reed, Columbus, MS; daughters-Debra Louise (Gary) Erb, Columbus, MS, Charla Patrice Boyd, Columbus, MS, Nicki (Jason) Cole, Columbus, MS, Pamela Gail Herrington, Mendenhall, MS and son-Charles Wesley (Buffy) Reed III, Elizabeth City, NC; sister-Evelyn L. Reed, Pearl, MS; grandchildren-Heather C. Christopher, Dakotah Reed, Kiki Reed, Nathan Erb and William C. Boyd IV; great grandchildren-Katherine Cole, Christopher Cole, Shay Boyd, Tristen Boyd, Kayla Maddox, Chloe Christopher, McKenzie Boyd and J.D. Boyd; a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bobby Ward, John Wierengo, Larry Bennett, David Ashmore, J.B. Cox, Wayne West, Jason Cole, Jamie Simpson and Bill Ellington. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed House, John Wierengo Sunday School Class, Retired Men's Coffee Club and Baptist Memorial Hospital Hospice.
