Charles "Charlie" Wayne Powell, 79, of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, October 18th, 2022 at North Mississippi Medical Center, in Tupelo MS.

Charlie Powell was born on September 8, 1943, to the late Howard "H.G." Powell and Fausteen Shepherd Powell, in Columbus, MS.

He went to Lee High School and graduated class of 1962.  Mr. Powell also attended East Mississippi Community College. Much of his time was spent serving in the Jaycee's.  He was also a member of Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.

Charlie worked as a human resource director for manufacturing companies throughout his work life. He loved all things Ole Miss. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, westerns, antique car shows, and working outside around his home. He spent 19 years building his dream car, a red 1955 Ford.

Mr. Powell is survived by his wife Linda Powell, Columbus, MS. daughter Kyndle L. Powell, Birmingham, AL; son Casey W. Powell, Amory, MS; Sisters: Barbaranne Powell Deason (Columbus, MS), Marilyn Powell Renfroe (Raymond, MS). Brother: Scott Powell (Montgomery, AL). Step-son Scott Sanderson. Step-daughter Lauren Sanderson Guynes. Granddaughters Fallon Hill Urbanavage and Kyla Powell. Step-grandchildren Hayden, Carter & Lucas Guynes. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharron Landrum Powell, and daughter, Kelly Powell Hill.

Visitation will be 9:30-11 AM, Monday, October 24th, 2022 at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel.
