Obituary

Chauncey Mark Green, 86, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 6-8PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 23, 2015 at 1PM at Border Springs Baptist Church, Caledonia, MS with Bro. Phillip Morris officiating. Interment will be held in Rowan Cemetery, Caledonia, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Green was born June 3, 1928 in Columbus, MS to the late James Oscar Green, Jr. and Annie Mae Reed Green. CMS Chauncey M. Green, United States Air Force retired with over 26 years of service. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, National Defense Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Senior Missile Man's Badge. Mr. Green served two times as a Justice Court Judge. He was a member of American Legion, New Hope Sports Boosters (25 years), Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a charter member of the New Hope Service Club. Mr. Green loved high school sports and was The Voice of the Trojans for many years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Green is preceded in death by his brothers - Willie T. Green and David Green. Mr. Green is survived by his wife of over 62 years - Elizabeth "Sister" Swanzy Green, Columbus, MS; son - Larry (Gale) Green, Kathleen, GA; daughter - Lore Ann (Truman) Pearson, Crossville, TN; sister - Martha Wells, Ft. Myers, FL; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Donnie Brown, Chris Sansing, Ray Williams, David Tilley, Mike Smith, and Charles Everette. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Holley, Steve West, Stacy Hester, Richard Cole, Joe Atkins, All Justice Court Judges and Employees, Constables Hoot West, Joe Ables and Sonny Sanders, Tim Hudson, Jeff Smith, Judge Jim Kitchens, Mike Alford, All New Hope Coaches, 55 Plus Group of Mt. Vernon, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Younger, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gerhart, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Bowen, Mr. and Mrs. Randy Broome, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Prescott, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Heath, Mr. and Mrs. Don Miller, and All Residents on Bobbitt Street The family has requested no flowers and that memorials may be sent to his church, your church, or New Hope Service Club's fund for the Special Needs kids of New Hope School.
