Elizabeth Ford Clara Elizabeth Ford, 80 of Aliceville, AL passed away, Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Pickens County Medical Center, Carrollton, AL. Visitation for Mrs. Ford will be Monday, February 27, 2012 from 6 – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 10 AM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tony Proctor officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Ford was born April 14, 1931 to the late C. Elizabeth & Bertram Gurley, Sr. in Caledonia, MS. She lived in the Lowndes / Pickens County area her entire life. Mrs. Ford was a member of the Caledonia United Methodist Church, Caledonia, MS and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She retired in 2005 from the Holiday Inn as the office manager; she was a devoted wife and mother. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ford is preceded in death by her husbands – Melvin T. Ford and Charles E. Chain, son – Raymond Owen Chain, sisters – Vista Nell Gurley Finnegan, Willie Louise Gurley Freeman, Opal Gurley Wakefield and brother – Bertram Owen Gurley, Jr. Mrs. Ford is survived by her sons – John William (Cindy) Chain, Aliceville, AL and Michael Lynn (Alice) Chain, Columbus, MS, Grandchildren – Sarah Chatterjee, Morgan Barksdale and Charles Chain, 5 great-grandchildren.
