Obituary

Clyde Arnold Rushing, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on June 9th, 2020.

A drive-thru visitation will be Saturday, June 13, 2020, from 5:00 – 7:00 at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A private graveside service will be at 5:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Dr. John Taylor officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home directing.  Friends may view the service online at www.lowndesfuneralhome.net the following day.

Arnold was born May 29th, 1930 in Kennedy, Alabama to Clyde Jackson Rushing and Naomi Ann Rushing. He grew up in the arms of the church and the rural southern countryside of Lamar County, Alabama. As an adult, he developed special ties to the Columbus, Mississippi community. Arnold was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church, Columbus, and recently at Fairview Baptist Church, Columbus. Arnold was a member of several gospel singing groups, including the Bryant Quartet and honored in the Lamar County Gospel Association Hall of Fame. Many will remember him as a faithful employee of Crossley's and Jim's Clothing of Columbus.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Renae, his brothers, J.C. and Cois, and his first wife, Rita Myers. He is survived by his brothers Avaughan and Larry, and through his first wife, his daughter Donna (Steve) Miller, his granddaughters Jessica (Eli) Davis and Sarah, and a great-grandson, Rylan.

He is also survived by his wife, Ruth, his step-children Cathy (and John) Taylor and Randy (and Patti) Wood. Other grandchildren: Kati Wood Ramage, K.C. (Cori) Wood, Kris (Lindsay) Wood, Stefanie (Nick) Christy, Jay (Melissa) Taylor, Staci (Thomas) Franklin, Carley (Kevin) Choate and 14 additional great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, Music Ministry, 127 Airline Road, Columbus, MS  39702 or the charity of your choice.
