Colleen Arnold Simmons, 85 of Columbus, MS passed away, Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Vineyard Court Nursing Center, Columbus, MS.

Visitation will be Monday, April 10, 2017 from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS.  A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home chapel.  Interment will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Simmons was born April 6, 1932 to the late Joe and Ruth Watson Arnold in Treece, KS.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Mrs. Simmons loved her family, especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed country and western music and talking on the telephone keeping up with her friends.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband – Albert R. Simmons; daughters – Donna Gates and Peggy Tennison; grandchild – Randy Kyzer and great grandchild – Josh Kyzer.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by her sons – Gary (Judy) Simmons, Columbus, MS and Wayne Simmons, Gardendale, AL; grandchildren – Tammy (Dale) Johnson, Mary Ann Tennison, Shelly Kyzer, Jennifer Weeks, Rita (Jason) Collier, Becky (Allen) Stokes, Bobby (Krista) Simmons and Shawn Gates; great-grandchildren – Randy (Jennifer) Weeks, Melonie Weeks, Josh Collier, Jonathon Collier, David Stokes, Austin Stokes, Katlyn Simmons, Madison Simmons, Kennedy Bryson, Crue Bryson and Madison Gates; brother – Jack Arnold.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Simmons, Shawn Gates, Josh Collier, Austin Stokes, David Stokes, and Randy Weeks.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathon Collier, the staff of Vineyard Court Nursing Home.

The family would like to than her special friend – Mary Taylor.
