Danielle Leslie Nowland, 24, of Columbus, MS passed away peacefully Saturday, February 13, 2016, at UAB-Birmingham, AL.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 2:00 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS. Following the service, there will be a barbeque at Stan Mathis's House. Everyone is invited to attend.

Miss Nowland was born November 14, 1991, to Dona Mathis Nowland and the late Michael Leslie Nowland in Columbus, MS. She was a lifelong resident of Columbus and she attended Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Ethelsville, Al. Miss Nowland attended Victory Christian Academy and Immanuel Christian School, and due to illness, she was homeschooled. She was a two-time double lung transplant recipient due to cystic fibrosis. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her grandparents-Ernest (Doris Nowland, Sr. and Thomas (Betty) Mathis, Sr.; aunt-Mona Mathis; and her uncle-Tom Mathis.

Miss Nowland is survived by her mother-Dona Mathis Nowland; aunts and uncles-Kevin Mathis, Teresa Barksdale, Stan (Trish) Mathis, Jeff (Mary) Mathis; Ernie Nowland II, and Debbie (Ron) Godney; and a host of cousins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gina Manley, Jeffrey Mathis, Jr., James Barksdale, Misty Barksdale, Grace Barksdale, Kayleigh (James) Woodard, Brett Barksdale, Brian Nowland, Ernie Nowland III, Jessica Cline, John McBride, Justin Cline, Julie Ward, Jeremy Ward, Brynn Putnam, Brad Putnam, Darlene (Rodney) Godney, and The Medical Staff at UAB-Birmingham, The Children's Hospital, Birmingham, AL, and Duke Hospital, North Carolina.
