Danny Jay Atkins Danny Jay Atkins, 56 of Munford, TN passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Methodist Hospital N., Memphis, TN. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 2 – 3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 3 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Michael D. Rogers officiating. Interment will be in Tabernacle UMC Cemetery, Ethelsville, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Atkins was born February 1, 1955 in Columbus, MS to Mary Martha Weathers Atkins, Munford, TN and the late Louis Stillman Atkins. He was a self-employed automobile salesman for the past 34 years. Mr. Atkins was an excellent level 5 tennis player, an avid Harley motorcycle rider, loved to fish and more than anything, spending time with his son. He was a member of Covington Church of Christ, Covington, TN. In addition to his mother, Mr. Atkins is survived by his son, Danny Jay "D.J." Atkins, Jr., Covington, TN; sister, Robin (Michael) Racine, Sr., Burlison, TN; brothers, Kenneth Atkins, Covington, TN and Todd (Sharon) Atkins, Irving, TX.
