David Dean began his journey on February, 14,1932, in Sycamore, GA, and made it home on June 25, 2024. Mr. Dean was born to the late J.L. Randolph Dean and Lula Mae Mauldin Dean Shehee.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dean is preceded in death by his sisters- Caroline Rodgers, Myrtle Dean, and Irene Mcleod; and brother- Eddie Dean.
Mr. Dean is survived by his wife- Vera Richardson Dean; daughters- Sherry Dean (Michael) McReynolds, Tammie Sue Dean (Dan) Johnston, and Shawnna Dean (Chris) Hansen; grandchildren- David Sean Johnston, Caleb Dean Stratton, Halie (Kyle) Frazier, Jessica Paige (Sam) Ansel, Casey (Greg) Wilkins, Joshua Colby Comer, Caden Lee (Jill) Comer, Will (Ashley) McReynolds, Jerran Hansen, Jesse (Lela) Hansen; twelve great-grandchildren; sister-in-law- Kay (Bob) Johnston; nephews- Brian McLeod, Dane McLeod, Chad (Victoria) Richardson, Thomas (Betsy) Johnston, Bill (Jennifer) Johnston, and Bruce (Callie) Johnston.
David proudly served as a Fireman in the United States Air Force for 22 years and dedicated 34 years at Microtek Medical as a manager before retiring. His professional life was characterized by unmatched integrity and the pursuit of excellence.
David loved serving his country and was a friend to all. He was an avid golfer and a jack-of-all-trades. His commitment to his nation was only superseded by his dedication to his family. He was married to his beloved wife, Vera, for 68 years.
His faith and his family served as the cornerstone of his life. David will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His wisdom, stories, and quick wit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. The Funeral Service will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS with Sam Vaughn officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens in Columbus, MS.
Pallbearers will be- David Sean Johnston, Caleb Dean Stratton, Joshua Colby Comer, Caden Lee Comer, Robert Thomas Johnston, and William David Johnston. Honorary Pallbearers will be- Dan Johnston, Mike McReynolds, Chris Hansen, Bobby Johnston, Bruce Johnston, Kyle Frazier, Sam Ansel, Greg Wilkins, Will McReynolds, Jerran Hansen, Jesse Hansen, Michael Stratton, Dane McLoed, and Brian McLeod.
