David Harrington
David Allen Harrington, 76 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS.
A visitation will be Friday, December 17, 2021, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the chapel with Rev. Al Hamm officiating. Interment will be at Leake Memorial Gardens, Carthage MS at 2:00 PM.
Mr. Harrington was born April 19, 1945, in Houlka, MS to the late James S. and Agnes Buchanan Harrington. He graduated from Ripley High School and attended Northeast Junior College from 1965 – 1967, where he was a star pitcher. After marrying Elaine Williams, whom he met at Blue Mountain College, he attended Delta State University. He and Elaine moved to Lafayette, GA in 1969 where he was a recreational director. Later he was a banker and worked for the Lafayette Police Department. After nine years in Georgia, they moved back to Batesville, MS. He trained in Chattanooga as an energy advisor for TVA. He worked for 4 County Electrical Association for 15 years before retiring. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and being with his four precious grandsons. In addition to his parents, Mr. Harrington was preceded in death by his brother – Billy Harrington.
Mr. Harrington is survived by his wife of 54 years – Elaine Williams Harrington; daughters – Michelle (Jerry) Harris and Renee (Wes) Alderman; grandboys – Seth Harris, Ethan Howell, Eli Howell, and Easton Howell; brother – Larry Harrington and sister – Linda DiChiara.
Pallbearers will be Ethan Howell, Seth Harris, Wes Alderman, Jerry Harris, Eli Howell, and Easton Howell.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
