David Aubrey Langford, 85, of Artesia, MS passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at his residence.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 1, 2020, from 12:30 -2:00 PM at Artesia Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM at Artesia Baptist Church, Artesia, MS, with Bro. Jeff Morgan officiating and Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.
Mr. Langford was born July 30, 1934, in Osborn, MS to the late Bertha Nell Brown and Samuel Langford. Mr. Langford graduated from Artesia Mayhew High School then from East Mississippi Community College with a degree in Drafting/ Refrigeration. He was in the Marines for three years and then went on to work at KCS Railroad as a clerk and retired after 42 years. He was a member of Artesia Baptist Church, taught Sunday School, and was a deacon. Mr. Langford loved the Mississippi State Bulldogs and coached little league baseball at Propst Park for many years. In addition to his parents, Mr. Langford is preceded in death by his brothers- SD Langford, Frank Langford, and Leroy Langford; sister- Mary Virginia Tate and grandchild- Tanner "My Bestest Buddy" Cherry.
Mr. Langford is survived by his wife of 64 years- Joann Thompson Langford, Artesia, MS; son- David (Kim) Langford, Jr.; daughters- Susan (Tim) Edmonds, Linda (Russell) Childs, and Lisa Crawley; grandchildren- Jason (Ana) Edmonds; Paul Edmonds, Ross (Erica) Jolley, Drew (Tyne) Crawley, Hunter Crawley, Zack Crawley, Aubrey (Michael) Langford, and Austin Cherry; great-grandchildren- Aiden Crawley, Kendalyn Jordan, Kelena Jordan, and Ezekiel Quinonez; sister- Edna Cain; and his brothers- Raymond (Kay) Langford, and Travis (Margaret) Langford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Former and Present employees of KCS Railroad, Jim Davis, Glenn Oakley, Jimmy Potter, Kenneth Graves, James Gibson, Wesley Gibson, and George Chafin.
Memorials may be made to Artesia Baptist Church.
