David A. Shackelford, 78, of Columbus, MS, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at his residence.

Visitation will be Friday, August 14, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Lowndes Funeral Home in Columbus, MS. Following will be a Graveside Service at 11:00 AM at Memorial Gardens in Columbus, MS with Bro. Mike Dalton officiating. Lowndes Funeral Home in Columbus, MS will be directing.

Mr. Shackelford was born October 18, 1947, in Fulton, MS, to the late Carl Shackelford and Dessie Rankin Shackelford. He was a Veteran serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Shackelford loved reading books and watching shows about westerns, gardening, flowers, and doing puzzles. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shackelford is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce L. Shackelford, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.

Mr. Shackelford is survived by his son, Justin (Elizabeth) Shackelford; nieces, Lisa Brewer and Darlene Shackelford; and cousins, Steve Shackelford and Tom Shackelford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Legion, Post #69, 308 Legion Drive, Columbus, MS.
