David S. Tilley, 80, of Ethelsville, AL passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at his residence.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 18, 2020, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. A funeral service will be Sunday, January 19, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Steve Lammons officiating. Interment will be in Forest Cemetery, Ethelsville, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Tilley was born August 6, 1939, in Pickens County, AL to the late Willie Lee "Snookum" Gee and Louis David Tilley. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1957 and then received two Associates Degrees from Shelton State University. Mr. Tilley served 6 years in the Alabama National Guard, 16 years at Gulf State Paper Corporation, then he worked at United Technologies as a Maintenace Director for 22 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He loved to golf, travel in his motorhome and stay  active always fixing things. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tilley is preceded in death by 3 infant children.

Mr. Tilley is survived by his wife of 60 years- Betty Allen Tilley of Ethelsville, AL; sons- Randy (Vickie) Tilley and Scott (Rita) Tilley both of Ethelsville, AL; daughter- Karen (Glen) Lindsey of Reform, AL; grandchildren- Johnny (Denise) Egger, Shay (Kristi) Knight, Dawn (Blake) Dillard, Tyler (Maginn) Donoho, Kristyn (Ryan) Junkin, Kaley Irvin, Kayla Lindsey, and Sean (Morgan) Turnipseed; 14 great-grandchildren; brother- Vernice (Mildred) Tilley of Ethelsville, AL; sister- Melinda (Mark) McCrory of Amory, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Rex Warlick, Ryan Junkin, Tommy Rester, Gene Tilley, Jerry Tilley, and Tyler Donoho. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, John East, Joe Keesler, Joe Atkins, Walter Bolton, John Hardy, Bill Willis.
