Deborah Gail Pounders Weathers, 62 of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Windsor Place in Columbus, MS. Visitation was Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services were held at 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Carlton Weathers officiating and Bro. Melvin Mordecai assisting. Interment was in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Weathers was born October 20, 1952 in Franklin, Indiana to Betty Ruth Hankins Pounders and the late Bro. E.G. Pounders, Jr. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Mrs. Weathers graduated from Deshler High School in Tuscumbia, AL in 1970 and graduated with a bachelor's degree from Mississippi University for Women. She was a chemistry, physics, algebra, science and trigonometry teacher at Immanuel Center for Christian Education for 21 years and was a cheerleader sponsor for 17 years. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her granddaughter Sophie Weathers. Mrs. Weathers is survived by her husband- Roy Weathers, Columbus, MS; daughter- Amber (Tommy) Willis, Tuscumbia, AL; Sons- Carlton (Aimee) Weathers and Jordan (Anna) Weathers both of Jacksonville, AL; grandchildren- Bobby Harden, Hannah Grace Weathers, Noah Weathers, Lily Weathers, Hope Weathers, Ada Weathers, Harper Gail Weathers; Mother- Betty Pounders, Columbus, MS; Sister- Karen (Frank) Robbins, Thermopolis, WY; Brother- Tim (Dawn) Pounders, Columbus, MS and a host of nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Pallbearers were Grandsons- Bobby Harden, Noah Weathers; Nephews- Hank Robbins, Dustin Pounders, Luke Pounders, and Caleb Pounders. Honorary Pallbearers were her former students from Immanuel Center for Christian Education.
