Delores Cox, 85 of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, AL. Visitation will be Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will be Friday, January 31, 2014 at 2 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Melvin Mordecai officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Cox was born December 28, 1928 in Goss, Mississippi to the late Randolph and Madie Buckley Ladner. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mrs. Cox owned and operated her own Towing and Service Center for 40 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband-Hubert Wayne Cox and a sister-Madeline Dolphine Moore. Mrs. Cox is survived by her daughter-Diane (Onala) Atala, Plainsboro, NJ, sons-Mike (Gaye) Cox, Shelbyville, KY and Greg Cox, Columbus, MS; sister-Carolyn Skutak, Campbell, NY; brother-Jack Ladner, Goss, MS; brother in law- Bill Moore, Memphis, TN; grandchildren-Jennifer Atala, Mat (Megan) Cox, Ben (Sara) Cox, Jesse (Vivian) Cox, Josh (Erin) Cox, Jonathan (Alli) Cox, Levi (Danielle) Cox, Brandy Yarbrough, Becky (Steve) Baucom and Jessica Cox;16 great-grandchildren; God-daughter-Breanna Jackson; number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Matt Cox, Ben Cox, Jesse Cox, Josh Cox, Jonathan Cox and Levi Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Virginia Forrester, David Jackson and David M. Jackson.
