Donald W. Jackson, 76, of Columbus, MS passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011 at his residence.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 12 ? 2 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 2 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Archie Talfinger officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mr. Jackson was born June 4, 1934 in Natchez, MS to the late Jessie and Kathleen King Jackson. He was a resident of Columbus, MS for over 60 years, having moved from Natchez, MS. Mr. Jackson retired as a foreman with Airline Manufacturing after 44 years of service. He loved gardening, especially raising tomatoes, yard work, and his dog, Paxton. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jackson is preceded in death by his wife ? Virginia Mae Thompson Jackson; sons ? Willis Dale Jackson and Terry Daniel Jackson; sister ? Nellie Strickland; and brother ? Paul Jackson.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his daughter ? Debra Hemby, Columbus, MS; son ? Richard W. (Fredna) Jackson, Caledonia, MS; brothers ? Earl (Faye) Jackson, Columbus, MS; Roy (Sarah) Jackson, Steens, MS; grandchildren ? April Michelle Hemby and Daniel Lee Jackson; and one great grandchild ? Gabrielle Yates.

Pallbearers will be Larry Lancaster, John Lancaster, Stanley Jackson, David Jackson, Daniel Jackson, and Lane Hunt. Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Holocher, Larry Ferguson, Kenneth Hunt and Ricky Hutchinson.
