Donald Max Wheeler, 73 of Columbus, MS passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Friday, September 19, 2014 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel with Bro. Billy Clyde Wheeler officiating. Interment will be in Wesley Chapel, Fayette, Al with Lowndes Funeral Home directing. Mr. Wheeler was born September 20, 1940 in Kennedy, AL to the late Thomas David and Itie Vaudeen Stripling Wheeler. He was Captain of the Columbus Fire Department for twenty-one years. Mr. Wheeler was of the Baptist faith, he was an avid fisherman, loved Alabama Football and dominos. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife-Shirley Ann Taylor Wheeler and a brother-Bobby Joe Wheeler. Mr. Wheeler is survived by his son-Stan (Pam) Wheeler, Columbus, MS; his daughter-Donna (Richard) Webb, Fayette, AL; grandchildren-Richard Gerhard Webb,II, Tuscaloosa, AL, Anna Webb, Brillant, AL, Taylor Webb, Tuscaloosa, AL; brothers-Tim Wheeler, Juniper Hills, CA and Billy Wayne Wheeler, Vernon, AL; sister-Shirley Battle, Macon, MS; A host of nieces and nephews and a special friend- Donald Ward. Pallbearers will be Columbus Fire and Rescue Honor Guard, Richard Webb, Taylor Webb, Bill Wheeler, Jeff Wilson, Mark Battle and Lee Battle. Honorary pallbearers will be Columbus Fire and Rescue Department and The Staff of Windsor Place. Memorials may be made to Charity of Donor's Choice.
